Raytheon Awarded $2.3 Billion for PATRIOT Missile System Engineering Support
Raytheon has been awarded a $2,300,304,490 hybrid contract for engineering services to support Phased Array Tracking Radar Intercept on Target (PATRIOT) system of systems.
The contractor will perform ongoing support of software, refresh for obsolescence to include support of systems outside the continental U.S., and partner country systems, a US DoD contract announcement said.
According to Raytheon information, the Patriot system has been used by five nations in more than 200 combat engagements against manned and unmanned aircraft, cruise missiles, and tactical ballistic missiles. Since January of 2015, Patriot has intercepted more than 100 ballistic missiles in combat operations around the world.
Recently, Raytheon unveiled a prototype radar that incorporates gallium nitride, a revolutionary semi-conductor technology that will enable 360-degrees of protection.
