Northrop Grumman has won a $404 million deal to build two E-2D Advanced Hawkeye (AHE) airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) aircraft for the US Navy.

“Northrop Grumman is awarded $404 million modification contract for non-recurring engineering and software support activities as well as product support for the E-2D Advanced Hawkeye (AHE) full rate production (FRP).  In addition, this modification procures two E-2D AHE aircraft, one each in FRP Lots 8 and 9,” the US Department of Defense said in a statement Wednesday.

Work is expected to be complete by March 2025.

The E-2D AHE is a twin-turboprop, carrier-capable tactical air tactical airborne early warning aircraft equipped with an AN/APY-9 radar, an ultra-high frequency hybrid mechanical/electronically scanned radar system with a 360-degree coverage capability. The aircraft is capable of detecting a ground-to-air cruise missile launch and stealth aircraft.
