The Russian Defense Ministry has said that almost 2,000 foreign mercenaries from 64 countries have been killed since the war against Ukraine began in February.
"As of June 17, 2022, our lists include mercenaries and specialists in the operation of weapons from 64 countries. Since the start of the special military operation, 6,956 people have arrived in Ukraine, 1,956 have been killed, and 1,779 have left," Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said on Friday.
According to Konashenkov, 101 mercenaries from the U.K., 162 from Canada, and 214 from the United States were killed in Ukraine.
"Among European countries, Poland leads in the number of both arrived and dead mercenaries. Since the beginning of the special military operation, 1,831 people have arrived in Ukraine (from Poland), of which 378 have been killed and 272 have left for their homeland," Konashenkov said.
According to him, 504 people came from Romania to fight in Ukraine, 102 died, 98 left. "Great Britain is in third place: 422 arrived, 101 died, 95 left," Konashenkov said.
"Canada is in the lead from the American continent: 601 arrived, 162 destroyed, 169 left. The United States is in second place: 530 arrived, 214 died, 227 left," he said.
"Most of all from the Middle East, Transcaucasia and Asia - 355 mercenaries arrived from Georgia, of which 120 were kiledand 90 left Ukraine. Followed by militants of terrorist formations transferred from US-controlled areas of the Syrian Trans-Euphrates - 200 people. Today, 80 of them were destroyed and 66 left Ukraine," the spokesperson of the Russian Defense Ministry said.
According to him, 3,221 foreign mercenaries are currently operating in Ukraine.
