Kratos Defense & Security Solutions and RAFAEL Advanced Defense Systems have announced a partnership to establish Prometheus Energetics, a U.S.-based supplier of solid rocket motors (SRMs) and other energetics.
The joint venture will be headquartered near the U.S. Navy and Army facility in Crane, Indiana.
The two companies will invest up to $175 million to develop the Prometheus manufacturing campus. Production of SRMs is expected to begin in 2027 after the completion of RAFAEL’s technology transfer and operational certification.
Kratos, known for its work in hypersonic systems and missile defense, will record 50% of Prometheus' net income in its financial statements. RAFAEL, a key Israeli defense contractor, brings experience from systems like Iron Dome and David’s Sling to the partnership.
