C4ISR major Elisra invests $20 million/year in R&D

Aeroindianews.com, the online show daily of Aero India 2009 interviewed Mr. Edgar Maymon, Elisra's VP Marketing and Business Development.

DW : Please highlight some of the aircraft and countries where the Integrated Self-Protection Suites are in use.

Mr. Edgar Maymon, Elisra's VP Marketing and Business Development: Our systems are deployed on over 34 different platforms and 1150 different Aircrafts - fighters, helicopters, transport aircrafts and UAVs, such as F-16; F-15, Black Hawk, Apache, C-130, several types of UAVs and various Light Aircrafts all over the world.

DW : Kindly describe some of the unique and exclusive features of the SIGINT systems.

Mr. Edgar Maymon, Elisra's VP Marketing and Business Development: High performance, modular ELINT and COMINT systems are designed for Air, Ground and Naval platforms and applications. They incorporate cutting-edge receiving, signal processing and highly accurate Direction Finding (DF) technologies - including Different Times Of Arrival (DTOA) and interferometer techniques. For UAVs, Elisra offers solutions which detect, identify and locate ground-based, airborne and shipboard emitters.Elisra's SIGINT solutions are deployed in peacetime and wartime to give friendly forces vital, real-time information about enemy's intentions and actions.

DW : Could you please give an insight into your R and D process in terms of the number of employees involved and your research locations? How do you manage such a diverse portfolio of high tech defense projects and so successfully at that?

Mr. Edgar Maymon, Elisra's VP Marketing and Business Development: As a world leading company all our products are at the cutting-edge of the technologies. Elisra invest almost 20M$ per year in major Research and Development in these fields. Company's excellence in these fields is the consequence of engaging long serving engineers with vast knowledge and experience in these fields, close collaboration with defense establishments, engaging experts from academic institutes, close cooperation with its customers and monitoring new technologies and assessing their potential to become new products. The fruits of the company's R&D efforts and resulting products are used as a springboard to advance its products even further to the next generation of warning systems such as IR.

DW : What according to you is the latest in theatre missile defence and how is Elisra implanting it?

DW : What products and features would you be highlighting at Aero India 2009?
