The DRDO exhibit will put up three real-time simulators of the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas and the Sukhoi-30 MKI at the Aero India 2015, scheduled to begin on February 18.

PS Subramanyam, programme director (Combat aircraft) and director, Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA), was quoted as saying by Bangalore Mirror that the two simulators would be for professional pilots as well as the public to use.

HS Nagaraj, group director (mechanical systems), ADA, said LCA Mark-I and Mark-II simulators would be put up by the ADA, while the Su-30 MKI simulator is being put up by Defence Avionics Research establishment (DARE).

"The Mark-I simulator can actually sit inside the cockpit and fly as per the instructions and enjoy the 'flight' as if they are really flying an aircraft. The system provides a 3D effect to the users who would feel the real sense of taking off, landing and sending the aircraft in a tizzy and doing the rolls," HS Nagaraj was quoted as saying.

The Mark-II simulator would be set aside for professional pilots, domestic and foreign, as well as for the VIPs visiting the stalls. The LCA Mark-II is the latest design in the LCA stable, which is why the general public will not be allowed to use that, Nagaraj added.

All these simulators are real-time simulators, which means the command and instructions given by the 'pilots' would be issued to the systems as if they are given in a real flight.
