Russia To Resume S-300 Anti-Aircraft Missile System Supply If Sanctions Lifted Against Iran

Russia may resume implementation of the contract for the supply of the S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems to Iran if the UN Security Council lifts weapons sanctions against Tehran, said director of the Center for Analysis of World Arms Trade (TSAMTO) Igor Korotchenko on Friday.

Before that, G6 countries (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany) and Iran managed to agree on the fundamental parameters of a future agreement on the Iranian nuclear program.

Among the agreements are canceling of unilateral economic sanctions of the European Union and the United States from Iran. In turn, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that the UN Security Council should lift the arms embargo against Tehran as well.
