AM General Wins $23M US Army Contract For Converting M1151 Configuration Humvees To M1167

AM General LLC has been awarded a $23 million contract from the US Army for converting the M1151 Enhanced Armament Carrier to an M1167 High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWV) for up to 251 vehicles.

“AM General LLC, South Bend, Indiana, was awarded a $23,159,070 firm-fixed-price contract with options to recapitalize the Army National Guard's High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWV) by converting the M1151 to an M1167 HMMWV for up to 251 vehicles,” the US Department of Defense announced Thursday.

One bid was solicited with one received. Work will be performed in South Bend, Indiana, with an estimated completion date of Dec. 31, 2018.

The M1167 has a TOW missile carrier configuration in the Expanded Capacity HMMWV series. The M1167 is equipped with an M41 Improved Target Acquisition system (ITAS) used to mount and operate the missile launcher system and featured armor ballistic protection for crew, missile stowage, secondary weapons mount for close range, and ammunition.
