Almaz-Antey will deliver five regiment sets of the S-400 Triumf anti-aircraft missile systems to the Russian Defense Ministry ahead of schedule this year, the company press office said Monday.

Almaz-Antey CEO Yan Novikov has said that "the works related to the preparations for the delivery of S-400 Triumf antiaircraft missile systems to the defense ministry this year are planned to be finished ahead of schedule: the 12th, 13th and 14th regiment sets of this system will arrive for the Russian Defense Ministry until the end of September 2016 while the 15th and the 16th sets will be delivered in October 2016," TASS reported quoting the press office as saying.

"The first regiment set of the S-400 system this year and the 12th in total has been fully assembled and now its fine-tuning is under way," Novikov said.

The S-400 Triumf is the newest long-range antiaircraft missile system that went into service in 2007. It is designed to destroy aircraft, cruise and ballistic missiles, including medium-range missiles, and can also be used against ground objectives. The S-400 can engage targets at a distance of 400 km and at an altitude of up to 30 km.
