The Danish Department of Defense has considered buying 27 F-35A to meet its national defense requirements.

At a press meeting on May 12, 2016, the prime minister and the defence minister of Denmark announced that the government recommend buying 27 F-35 aircraft.

“We understand the selection process for the New Fighter Program is still ongoing and the Joint Program Office will continue to provide the Danish Government with the data needed to make an informed decision that is in their country's best interest,” the joint program office said in a statement Thursday.

Lockheed Martin’s F-35A beat Eurofighter and F/A-18F Super Hornet after the Danish Defense ministry evaluated the three aircraft based on an operational period of 30 years for the new fighter aircrafts (2020-2049).

The Evaluation report stated that the three candidates have been evaluated within four specific areas; Strategic, military, economic and industrial aspects.

The joint strike fighter (F-35) defeated the other two aircraft in all aspects.
