Northrop Grumman has won $164 million contract to provide one E-2D Advanced Hawkeye aircraft configured for the Government of Japan.
Work is expected to be completed in March 2018, the US DoD said in a statement Friday.
Northrop Grumman had received a U.S. Navy contract for non-recurring engineering and recurring support to configure the first Japanese E-2D Advanced Hawkeye in January this year.
The Japanese Air Self Defense Force has operated the E-2C Hawkeye since the late 1980s. The E-2C is also currently in use by Taiwan, France and Egypt.
