Russia plans to produce a batch of upgraded NK-32.02 aircraft engines by the end of 2016.

The engine manufacturer Kuznetsov is waiting for a government license of its test site in Samara and will be ready to test the new engine. The company will start testing the engine on the upgraded TU-160 bomber by the end of 2018, Izvestia news daily reported quoting company sources as saying Monday.

Kuznetsov provides repair and maintenance of engines for the Russian strategic aviation. It performs different works for the resumption of mass-production of a unique engine NK-32 for the Tu-160 strategic bomber.
