IAE International Aero Engines today announced that Grupo TACA, one of the leading Latin American airlines, has selected V2500 SelectOne engines to power an additional 15 Airbus A320-family aircraft.>> Supported by a V2500Select aftermarket agreement, the value of this new deal is $400 million at list prices.>> El Salvador-based TACA currently operates 37 V2500-powered A320 family aircraft and is awaiting delivery of a further four from a previous order, creating a total backlog of 19 aircraft with IAE engines. The airlines relationship with IAE extends back to 1995 and in 1998 TACA ordered the V2500 to power 32 A320 family aircraft.>> Roberto Kriete, Chairman and CEO of TACA, said: We truly value the long-standing relationship that our two companies share and were delighted to continue this relationship with IAE with this new order. Our experience of the V2500 and the support we have received from IAE over the last 10 years has been excellent. >> IAE President & CEO Jon Beatty said: The V2500 SelectOne is the best engine solution for the A320 family in todays environment. It gives the greatest flexibility across TACAs operations whilst delivering a substantial fuel-burn benefit. The airlines decision to place a follow-on order for the V2500 is an indicator of the engines exceptional in-service performance and strength of our comprehensive offering.>> The 22,000-33,000lb of thrust V2500 is available in seven different thrust settings to power the Airbus A319, A320 and A321 Family of aircraft as well as the Airbus Corporate Jetliner. More than 5,000 V2500 engines are in service or on firm order. Around 75 per cent of Airbus A320s in service in Latin America are powered by the IAE engine.
