The US State Department has approved sale of AGM-65G-2 Maverick missiles, and AIM-9X-2 Sidewinder Missiles with related support in two separate contracts each worth $70 million to the Republic of Korea.

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of both possible sales on January 31, 2017.

The Government of the Republic of Korea (ROK) has requested a possible sale of 60 AIM-9X-2 Sidewinder Block II All-up-Round Missiles and six AIM-9X-2 Block II Tactical Guidance Units, containers, 89 AGM-65G-2 Maverick missiles, missile containers, spares and missile support, US Government and contractor technical assistance, and other related elements of logistics support, US DoD said in a statement Wednesday.

The principal contractor for both Maverick and Sidewinder missiles contract is Raytheon. At this time, there are no known offset agreements proposed in connection with this potential sale.
