India’s Kalyani group that manufactures defence products in venture with Israel’s Rafael, has considered commencing operations of Hyderabad plant in March-April.

“The company will also be showcasing jet engines at the upcoming Aero India 2017,” said Chairman Baba Kalyani.

Speaking to CNBC-TV18, Kalyani expressed his optimism on outlook for FY18 in absence of major disruption in world economy, political as well as financial system.

"The country's manufacturing sector is likely to do well on the back of major outlay in defense, railways, infrastructure or mining," Kalyani added.

Last month, Kalyani Group has won $4.5 billion contract with Tata Power SED to jointly co-develop Advanced Towed Artillery Gun System (ATAGS) with India's state-owned Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO).

Similarly during March last year, Tata Motors had signed a strategic agreement with Bharat Forge, part of Kalyani group, and General Dynamics for Indian Army’s Future Infantry Combat Vehicle (FICV) program.
