Saab To Provide Airborne Swing Role Surveillance System To UAE: IDEX 2017 News

The UAE Armed Forces has signed a deal worth Dh865 million (US $235 million) with Saab to buy a new airborne G6000 SRSS (Swing Role Surveillance System) aircraft.

The contract also includes providing additional supply of spare parts for ground hardware and perishable materials. 

IDEX spokesperson Staff Brigadier-General Rashid Mohammed Al Shamsi who informed about the contract said that the first two days have led to an increasing number of deals with national and international companies alike.

Saab has delivered SRSS incorporating a new version of the Saab Erieye radar system worth USD1.27 billion to UAE in 2015.

The new SRSS for the UAE uses the Global 6000 aircraft from Bombardier as a platform. The Swing Role Surveillance System is capable of simultaneous detection and tracking of multiple targets in the air, on land and at sea.

It is the latest evolution of the Erieye system that incorporates Saab’s many decades of radar capabilities across all domains.
