Australia's GSTG To Partner With Grollo Aerospace For Supersonic Aerial Target System

Australia's Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG) has decided to collaborate with local company Grollo Aerospace to support further development of the Evader autonomous supersonic aerial target system.

The collaboration would provide the Australian Defence Force (ADF) with a cost-effective means to test the performance of modern weapon systems targeted at ADF aircraft, Defence Industry Minister Christopher Pyne announced on 10 March.

The Evader system has been under development for 10 years and a demonstration for the Department of Defence (DoD) is planned for 2018, Managing Director Mark Grollo was quoted as saying by IHS Jane's 360 Friday.

Equipped with variable inlet and nozzle geometry, the ramjet propulsion system developed by the privately owned company is designed to operate over a broad range of altitudes at speeds ranging from Mach 1 to Mach 2.
