MD Helicopters Wins $76M Contract To Support Afghan Air Force's Chopper Fleet

The Pentagon has awarded MD Helicopters with a $76 million contract to provide logistics support for the Afghan Air Force’s MD 530F chopper fleet.

"MD Helicopters Inc., Mesa, Arizona, was awarded a $76,700,001 firm-fixed-price foreign military sales (Afghanistan) contract for contractor logistics support for the MD 530F aircraft fleet in support of the Afghanistan Air Force," the Department of Defense said in a press release Wednesday.

An estimated completion date is May 31, 2018.

The MD 530F Cayuse Warrior is an armed helicopter built by MD Helicopters and is designed to operate in hot weather environments. The copter enhances scout attack, armed escort and close air attack capabilities of the Afghan Air Force.
