US, Coalition Strike Islamic State Targets 31 Times Since July 15 in Iraq, Syria

The US and coalition military forces have intensified strikes on the Islamic States of Syria and Iraq since July 15, conducting 31 strikes consisting of 51 engagements, a press release by Combined Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve states.

In Syria, coalition military forces conducted 22 strikes consisting of 34 engagements against ISIS targets destroying IS check points near Abu Kamal, and three weapons caches, two staging areas, a wellhead, 18 fighting positions, two vehicle bomb factories, mortar system and a tactical vehicle in three other cities.

In Iraq, nine strikes consisting of 17 engagements were conducted against ISIS targets destroying two fighting positions, two tunnel entrances, three tactical vehicles, a mortar system, in addition to four ISIS-held buildings.

On July 15, coalition military forces conducted 14 strikes in Syria and Iraq which closed within the last 24 hours.

The strikes were conducted by fighter, attack, bomber, rotary-wing or remotely piloted aircraft; rocket-propelled artillery; and some ground-based tactical artillery when fired on planned targets, task force officials noted.
