Russia Likely To Sign Su-57 Fighter Aircraft Deal In 2018

Russia’s defense ministry is in talks with state-owned United Aircraft Corporation on purchase of fifth-generation Su-57 fighters and is expected to sign contract next year.

"We are working on signing a contract for the supply of the first batch of these fighters in 2018 with the delivery of the planes to the Russian armed forces in 2019," Deputy Defense Minister Yury Borisov told reporters on Wednesday at a news conference on the results of the Army-2017 Forum.

The Su-57 warplane, formerly known as T-50, is being developed by the Sukhoi Company under the United Aircraft Corporation. The single-seat twin-engine jet features supercruise, stealth and supermaneuverability.

Su-57 made its maiden flight in 2010 and will complete its first stage testing by the end of 2017.
