The United Engine Corporation (part of the Rostec State Corporation) has begun flight testing of the turboprop engine TV7-117ST developed by JSC "ODK-Klimov", which is being built to equip the IL-112V light military transport aircraft and the IL-114-300 regional airliner.

"The testing of the TV7-117ST engine is an important stage in the creation of two sought-after products of the United Aircraft Corporation: the new light IL-112V military transport aircraft waiting for the Armed Forces and the IL-114-300 passenger aircraft needed to expand regional traffic in our the country,” said Yuri Slyusar, President of UAC Tuesday.

"The new engine will significantly increase the competitiveness of these Russian aircraft."

The first flight of the flying IL-76LL laboratory with an experimental engine TV7-117ST was held today, September 12. During the tests, the operation of the power plant will be checked in full-scale conditions, in different modes and ranges of heights.

“The first stage of the flight testing program will comprise 20 flights,” Yury Shmotin, chief designer at United Engine Corporation (UEC), told media. “Tests will be conducted across the entire range of the Il-112V’s operating speeds and altitudes. The engine is also the standard option for the Il-114 civilian aircraft, so it will be tested within that type’s envelope as well.”

Earlier, in July, a flying laboratory with the TV7-117ST engine installed on it (the forced modification of the TV7-117SM engine) was demonstrated to the general public during the International Aviation and Space Salon MAKS-2017.

The Il-112V aircraft is replacement for Russia's aging Antonov An-26 planes. The mass production of the plane is scheduled for 2019.
