Russian Defense Ministry Takes Delivery Of Second Batch Of Su-34 Bombers

The Russian Federation Ministry of Defence has received the second batch of Sukhoi Su-34 frontline bombers, as part of the 2017 state defence order on October 16.

The first batch of bombers was delivered in May 2017 to Eastern Military District air units.

The aircraft took off from the aerodrome of the Novosibirsk Aviation Plant. V.P. Chkalov and went to the site of deployment, state-run United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) said in a press release.

Sukhoi, a subsidiary of United Aircraft Corporation, secured contracts to deliver around 200 Su-34s which are to be delivered to the Air Force by 2020.

The 4+ generation Su-34s will replace the Su-24 frontline bombers and Su-25 attack aircraft which are presently in service with the Russian Air Force. The multi-role, two-seat Su-34 is designed to attack land-based, sea- and airborne targets by day and night in all weather conditions.
