UAE Considering Raytheon's 'Glide Bomb'

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has demonstrated an interest in acquiring Raytheon’s Joint Standoff Weapon (JSOW) 'glide bomb' for its air force, the company announced ahead of the Dubai Air Show next week.

The  JSOW C Variant is in various stages of acquisition by several Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. It is sought by two GCC countries that have LOAs (Letter of Acceptance), and others are in early stages of acquisition, Mark Borup, Business Development Senior Manager for JSOW said in a statement Monday.

The Block III C1 is a latest modification to the existing JSOW C, which adds a weapon datalink radio and modified seeker software to increase capability for the anti-surface warfare mission. JSOW C features an infrared seeker, a programmable warhead and can fly to multiple waypoints while evading jamming.
