Russia Completes Upgrading MiG-35 Component Assembly Unit, to Start Mass Production Next Year

Russian MiG corp has completed upgrading its Kalyazin branch to begin MiG-35 component assembling. MiG plans to produce 36 MiG-35 fighter jets per year and is considering mass production starting next year.

"MiG" corporation has completed the technical re-equipment of the company's branch in Kalyazin (Tver region) for serial production of the units of the newest MiG-35 fighter and the regional Il-114 passenger plane, the press service of the corporation informs, Russian Rambler News Agency reported Tuesday.

"Plans for the development of our production are carried out on time. Today, the introduction of modern technologies and Russian equipment makes it possible to raise the plant's capacity by almost 60%, to launch the mass production of the newest MiG-35 aircraft complex to 36 aircraft per year, " Ilya Tarasenko, Director General of RAC MiG was quoted as saying by RNS.

As part of the program, the assembly and assembly shop, the machine assembly shop were modernized, a specialization center for the production of transition beams was created, and the infrastructure of the plant was reconstructed, the company noted. The total cost of the project was 411 million rubles ($7.1 million).
