Lockheed Martin to Hike Hellfire Missile Production to 11000 Units a Year

Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control has been awarded a $80,250,000 contract modification for the Hellfire production ramp-up effort.

This includes production line set-ups, acquisition of additional tooling/test equipment, and establishment of additional suppliers.

The ramp-up is required to increase production capacity up to 11,000 missiles per year, a US DoD contract announcement said Tuesday.

Work will be performed in Orlando, Florida, with an estimated completion date of Sept. 30, 2021. Fiscal 2017 other procurement, Army funds in the amount of $80,250,000 were obligated at the time of the award. U.S. Army Contracting Command, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, is the contracting activity.

The Hellfire missile is the primary 100-pound (45 kg) class air-to-ground precision weapon for the armed forces of the United States and many other nations. The Hellfire can be fired from rotary- and fixed-wing aircraft, waterborne vessels and land-based systems against a variety of targets.
