The US Army has awarded a foreign military sales contract estimated $94.8 million to Raytheon / Lockheed Martin Javelin joint venture for Javelin weapon system deliverables to foreign customers, the Department of Defense announced Thursday.

The contract includes deliveries of rounds, command launch units, and battery coolant unit spares to the governments of France, Taiwan, Jordan, Qatar, Turkey, and Lithuania, the statement says.

The Javelin is a portable anti-tank weapon that can be shoulder-fired but can also be installed on tracked, wheeled or amphibious vehicles. It consists of the CLU and the round. With a carry weight of 6.4kg, the CLU incorporates a passive target acquisition and fire control unit with integrated day sight and thermal imaging capabilities.

Work will be performed in Tucson, Arizona, with an estimated completion date of Aug. 31, 2020, it added.

More than 25,000 missiles have been produced and more than 6,600 command launch units have been sold to the US army and Marine Corps.
