India’s state-run Goa Shipyard has signed a memorandum of understanding with Brazilian shipyard INACE to design three of four future Tamandare corvettes for the Brazilian navy if it won the tender.

The collaboration between the two companies will allow technology transfer from the Indian partner to INACE and also allow the creation of regional production base in Ceara covering most of the GSL’s products, Brazilian news daily Defensa reported Saturday.

As per the current tender, GSL has offered options to the Brazilian Navy based on the project of the Naval Projects Center (NPC) with some elements of the Saryu NOPV-II class designed in Goa, India.

According to the Request for Proposals (RFP) published by the navy in December 2017, apart from offering competitive pricing, GSL has to also transfer technology to INACE and offsets to Brazilian Navy.

The consortium also includes ATech- a member of the Embraer group, SKM, a specialist in engineering projects (electrical, software and instrumentation), and production of Main Electrical Panels, Distribution panels and energy management systems applied in ships with systems of conventional propulsion  and diesel-electric, control systems, automation, supervision etc.
