Russia’s state hi-tech corporation Rostec announced Wednesday that its subsidiary Technodinamika has begun installation of marine hydraulic systems on Indian Navy’s aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya.

The GS-1MF and GS-3 marine hydraulic systems are used for refueling, cleaning and pressurization of hydraulic systems of aircraft and helicopters which form part of the air-capable wing of the Vikramaditya aircraft carrier. It will reportedly be installed in the ship by May 2019.

As part of the program of military-technical cooperation with India, installation supervision, commissioning and sea trials of Vikramaditya aircraft carrier are planned, the press release said.

"Installation supervision of marine hydraulic systems at Vikramaditya is an important step in the upgrade of what is currently the most powerful aircraft carrier of the Indian Navy," saidCEO of Technodinamika, Igor Nasenkov. "The Vikramaditya project is extremely promising taking into account the long-term development program of the Indian aircraft fleet, under which by 2027 it will acquire two more ships."

The $2.3 billion aircraft carrier came to India from Russia in January 2014. INS Vikramaditya, which was commissioned into the Indian Navy in November 2013 at the Sevmash shipyard in north Russia's Severodvinsk, is based at its home port at Karwar in Karnataka.

The air wing consists of 30 MiG 29K fighter jets and six Kamov helicopters.
