Ukroboronprom’s Armored Vehicle Repair, Evacuation Machine Ready for Serial Production

Ukrainian Lviv Armored Plant, a part of state-run Ukroboronprom has completed departmental tests of the armored repair evacuation machine (BREM) ‘Lion’ and are ready for its serial production.

The machine based on T-72 tank is intended for evacuation and towing of defective, damaged trached and wheeled military equipment in conditions of combat, carrying out its current and average repair in field conditions, Ukroboronprom said in a statement Tuesday.

The ‘Lion’ is equipped with a cable winch with a working length of 200 meters, which develops the tractive effort of 22000-25000 kgf, and with the use of additional polyspacers - up to 75000 kgf.

Electric welding equipment, which is powered by a generator of a repair and evacuation machine, allows conducting electric welding operations in field conditions. 

In addition, BREM has a crane-archer with a maximum carrying capacity of 12 tons for mounting-dismantling of units and assemblies in the field, in particular, tank towers, engines, gear boxes, support rollers, etc.

Additionally, the machine is equipped with a cargo platform, which allows transporting spare parts necessary for repairs weighing up to 1.5 tons.

On BREM "Lion" it is possible to install an engine with a capacity of 780 (840) k / s, which allows a 41-ton car to develop a maximum speed of up to 60 km / h. BREM is capable of operating in the range of air temperature from -40 to +40, and has a range of at least 460 kilometers on a ground road.

The crew of the car - 3 people, armed with BREM - machine gun NNWT (CT-12.7). BREM was specially created for increased technical support and operational maintenance of tank units formed by various modifications of T-64 and T-72.
