Northrop Grumman to Provide Training, Logistics Support for South Korea's Global Hawk UAVs

Northrop Grumman has inked a deal with South Korean Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) to provide Republic of Korea Global Hawk HUAV (High-altitude Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) fleet with Contractor Logistics Support (CLS).

The contract includes providing timely site activation in South Korea, complete training packages for pilots, operators and maintainers of the system; and a team of subject matter experts to provide seamless on-site and reach-back CLS support, the company said in a statement Wednesday.

“Northrop Grumman will build on our successful support of the US  Air Force’s Global Hawk and US Navy’s Triton heritage to provide high-quality sustainment support to the ROK HUAV fleet,” said John Parker, Vice President, global logistics and modernization, Northrop Grumman Technology Services.

South Korea currently has four RQ-4 Global Hawks, all of which are on order.

The RQ-4 Global Hawk is a large HUAV used for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance operations. It has a wingspan of over 130 feet and has a maximum takeoff weight of 16 tons. The UAV has a range of over 12,000 miles and can stay in the air for more than 34 hours, allowing it to provide persistent coverage of large target areas.
