Su-30MKI To Be Fitted With Indigenous 3D Printed Fuel System Elbow

Su-30MKI manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) will be fitted with an elbow for its fuel system made for the first time using additive manufacturing technology.

The 3D printed fuel system elbow part is certified by Centre of Military Airworthiness & Certification (CEMILAC). The certificate was handed over during the Aero India 2019 airshow.

As part of the Phase-IV Su-30 MKI manufacturing under Transfer of Technology (ToT) from Russia there is a shortage of some casting for manufacturing of components. Owing to this HAL has chosen a Fuel system elbow as a pilot component for fabrication through additive manufacturing process.
