Indian Bharat Electronics to Supply IAF with $754 M Worth Akash Missiles

Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) signed a contract with the Indian MoD today for the procurement of Seven Squadrons of Akash Missile System for the Indian Air Force (IAF).

This is a turnkey contract with specialist infrastructure, the total value of which is Rs.5,357.00 Crores (USD 754 Million).  Delivery will be completed in three years. These systems will be commissioned at seven Air Force locations spread across Pan India,  a BEL release said.

The Akash is a surface-to-air missile system meant for protecting assets against attacking aircraft.
