Elbit Systems will upgrade Hermes 900 drones of two Latin American countries by integrating satellite communication systems and automatic takeoff and landing systems.
On April 12, the company said in a statement that the two contracts, worth $20 million combined, will be performed within a 12-month period.
This upgrade will advance the Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) unmanned aerial systems to the latest configuration, enabling extension of the operational range to more than 1000km and performing the takeoff and landing autonomously and independent of GPS reception.
