Turkey Conducts Ground Test of Locally-made Air-breathing Missile Engine

Ground test of Turkey’s first domestically developed medium-range missile engine TEI-TJ300 was carried at a Turkish Aerospace Industries' (TAI) facility today.

The TEI-TJ300 will power the Medium Range Anti-Ship Missile (MRASM). It was developed by a team consisting of TAI, Roketsan and the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBITAK), The test was conducted in Turkey's central province of Eskişehir.

The turbojet engine TJ300 was originally designed to be used in medium-range ship repellent missiles, while with different configurations, it can also be used with several other platforms.

The engine can produce a force of 1,300 newtons and nearly 400 horsepower, despite its compact dimensions. It is capable of operating at speeds of up to 90% of Mach 1 at an altitude of up to 5,000 feet.

The TJ300 missile engine is compatible with air, naval and land defense systems.
