The U.S. Navy awarded General Electric a contract valued $220 million to provide 48 new engines to power their F/A-18 Super Hornet jets.
This modification exercises an option to procure 48 F414-GE-400 engines and engine devices in support of the F/A-18 Super Hornet production aircraft for the Navy, a U.S. DoD release said today.
Work is expected to be completed in August 2023.
The F414 turbofan engine powers Boeing F/A-18E/F Super Hornets, Boeing EA-18G Growler, Saab Gripen Next Generation and Tejas LCA jets.
