MD Helicopter was awarded a $14,500,000 Pseudo Foreign Military Sales (FMS) contract modification to provide contractor logistics support for the Afghanistan Air Force fleet of armed MD 530F rotary wing aircraft.

Work will be performed in Mesa, Arizona; Kabul, Afghanistan; and Al-Ain, United Arab Emirates, with an estimated completion date of Nov. 30, 2021, a U.S. DoD contract announcement said.

Fiscal 2021 Pseudo Foreign Military Sales (Afghanistan) funds in the amount of $14,500,000 were obligated at the time of the award. U.S. Army Contracting Command, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, is the contracting activity.

PSEUDO-FOREIGN MILITARY SALES

Pseudo-FMS is the name of the process that uses the FMS procedural framework, but instead of selling defense articles and services to a customer country, the United States funds the purchase and transfer using appropriated funds. it is designed to arm U.S. allies and friendly countries that may lack financial resources, and to do so more rapidly than through traditional FMS procedures.
