Mass Production of Turkey’s Hisar O+ Defense Systems to Begin
Turkey’s HİSAR O+ air defense system will soon enter mass production.
“Mass production agreement of HİSAR O+ has been signed with Aselsan and Roketsan. Deliveries under the contract are scheduled to take place by 2024,” Turkey’s Presidency of Defense Industries (Turkish: Savunma Sanayii Başkanlığı or SSB) tweeted July 12.
Two days ago, Ismail Demir, head of SSB, shared a video of a HİSAR O+ missile destroying a high-speed target at long range and high altitude.
Aselsan produces components such as radars, command and control, and fire controls while Roketsan was responsible for the development of the missile system.
The warhead was developed by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey’s (TÜBITAK) Defense Industries Research and Development Institute (SAGE).
The HİSAR O+ system can engage and fire at six targets at the same time. It has a range of 25km, 10km more than its predecessor, the HİSAR A+.
These missile systems are set to be effective against invading aircraft, helicopters, cruise missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles and air-to-ground missiles.
All elements of the HİSAR A+ system have been delivered to the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK). These include the autonomous Hisar A+, the Self-Propelled Autonomous Low Altitude Air Defense Missile System (AIHSFS) and Towed AIHSFS.
