Russia's New Paper Shredder Can Convert Documents to Dust

Spymasters out to destroy documents without leaving a trace need to look at  a new paper shredder developed in Russia that converts paper and plastic to dust.

Ruselectronics holding of the Rostec State Corporation has started the production of shredders with the highest level of secrecy.

The device allows the safe disposal of paper documents, plastic cards, CDs and DVDs without the possibility of recovery.

The result of using the shredder is considered to be safe even from attempted recovery through the use of special software and hardware. The device is capable of shredding up to six sheets of paper with a standard density of 80 g / m 2 at a time at a cutting speed of 60 mm per second.

Rostec stated that the development will be shown at the Army-2021 International military-technical forum which will be held from 22 to 28 August in the Moscow region.

“The new shredder provides the highest level of protection for confidential information. A device of this class is intended for use in security agencies, tax authorities, banks, and industrial enterprises. At present, a prototype has been created, serial production will be launched before the end of the year. The enterprise's capacities will make it possible to produce up to 5 thousand devices annually,” Sergei Sakhnenko, General Director of the United Instrument-Making Corporation (the managing company of the Ruselectronics holding), said.
