Ukrainian Propulsion Systems Maker to Supply Marine Engines to Goa Shipyard

Ukrainian Zorya-Mashproekt Gas Turbine Research and Development Complex, a state-owned enterprise has signed a contract with India's Goa Shipyard Limited for supply of two latest generation M7H2 engines to power warships of the country's Navy.

The turbo-power units are to be installed in new multi-purpose frigates, which will soon be built at the Indian shipyard. According to the contract, the first unit should be ready in December next year, the second one – in July 2023, a press release from Ukroboronprom, which is the holding company of Zorya-Mashproekt said Thursday.

M7H2 units have an upgraded microprocessor control system, 58,000 horsepower and allow for the speed of 30 knots.

Over the past two weeks, Zorya-Mashproekt, Ukraine's designer and manufacturer of marine and industrial gas turbine plants, has signed contracts with Indian customers totaling about 100 million USD.

The propulsion systems will go into the new Talwar-class frigates being built at GSL for the Indian Navy, stated the Defence Ministry on Wednesday.

India and Russia are building four warships under the Talwar-class follow on the project of which two are being built in Russia and two in Goa.
