Russian Forces Seize Kherson Region in Southern Ukraine

The Russian Armed Forces took control of the Kherson region that falls towards the South of Ukraine.
"The armed forces of the Russian Federation have taken full control of the entire territory of the Kherson region," Russian MoD Spokesperson Igor Konashenkov said on Tuesday.
The Kherson Oblast in the South of Ukraine and an economic center. Kherson city, which is the administrative center of the region is an important port on the Black Sea and on the Dnieper River, and the home of a major ship-building industry (Wikipaedia).
Konashenkov also said that Russian Airborne Forces seized a stronghold of Ukrainian nationalists and foreign mercenaries near Kiev. They captured some 10 American-made Javelin anti-tank missile systems, which will be transferred to the DPR and LPR militias.

Russian forces met stiff resistance in various parts of Kherson from Ukrainian tank and armored vehicle units. Losses are said to be heavy on both sides. According to Ukrainian media, 4 Russian helicopters were shot down.
