Belarus is testing new missiles for Polonaise MLRS and Buk self-propelled, medium-range surface-to-air missile systems.

“Rocket building is currently one of the key areas of the State Committee for Military Industry. In May we have the next stage of testing, in August the next one. I think that during this year we will carry out several stages by analogy with the past and at the end of the year we will report to the head of state on the accomplishment of those tasks who stand in this key direction of the State Committee for Military Industry," Dmitry Pantus, chairman of the State Military Industrial Committee (GVPK), was quoted by the BelTA state agency.

He added that it was about testing missiles for the Polonaise and Buk complexes.

Earlier, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that agreements had been reached with Russia on the creation of a new Iskander-type missile. “I set the Prime Minister the task after the last meeting in the Far East with the President of Russia. We agreed unequivocally: Putin, Rogozin, Lukashenko, who else was there - people who are engaged in rocket production in Russia, so that they look at our developments. We after all, we are creating a new missile. A very effective missile of the Iskander model. Approximately. And there was full support," the Belarusian president said during a meeting on the state defense order.

"In my time, the president set the task of Dmitry Rogozin to immediately provide support so that we do not create a bicycle, so that we can use the experience of developers, rocket scientists of the Russian Federation who made the Iskander," he added.
