State-owned arms manufacturer, "Ukroboronprom" together with the Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff have developed a program to manufacture unmanned systems based on experience gained during the current war with Russia.
This was done on the instructions of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Valery Zaluzhny.
Specialists involved in this project systematized knowledge about the combat use of drones, their place on the battlefield, worked out questions about the types of equipment, their tactical and technical characteristics, as well as the necessary ammunition, etc. During the work, foreign studies and combat experience of Ukrainian pilots were taken into account, a Ukroboronprom release said August 25.
The program also envisages a fruitful partnership with private UAV developers for the quick and safe production of UAVs at their facilities.
The authors of the program presented it to the Main Committee of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and hope for its implementation as soon as possible.
"This work is designed to help, including private producers, many of whom are currently working for the benefit of the Security and Defense Forces. For this, we gathered representatives, talked about needs, about possible help, about scaling, and about efficiency and safety of production," adds Ukroboronprom project manager Oleg Boldyrev.
Ukraine has used a number of drones, both for attack and reconnaissance including Turkish Bayrtkar and American Switchblade UAVs in the war against Russia. Ukraine itself has a number of local drone manufacturers whose products are being used by its military.
