A pre-production or prototype batch of Russian single-engine Su-75 ‘Checkmate’ fighter jets will be produced in 2026, according to documents released at the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vladivostok, TASS reported.
“The pre-production batch of the Su-75 light tactical aircraft should be manufactured in 2026,” the document says. A pre-production lot is an initial batch made to confirm that a new design is ready for full-scale production.
Yuri Slyusar, CEO of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), had said earlier that the company plans to produce four Checkmate prototypes.
During a press interaction at the Army 2022 event in Moscow last month, the UAC CEO had said in response to a question by defensemirror.com that the development of an all-new single-engine for the Su-75 is on track.
According UAC information, the Su-75 ‘Checkmate’ combines unique artificial intelligence technologies. It is a stealth aircraft with an internal weapon bay. After its initial launch at MAKS 2021 event, information about its prototype and test flight stages has been scant.
The Su-75 was conspicuously absent from being displayed at the Army 2022 while its twin engine sibling the Su-57 got prominent positioning leading to comments among visitors that the latest stealth jet’s prototype is not yet ready.
