French DGA Formally Qualifies Rafale F4 Standard

France’s Directorate General of Armaments (DGA) has formally qualified the Rafale F4, the latest variant of the combat jet.

“The DGA has qualifies the F4.1 standard of Rafale, including in particular: collaborative aerial combat capabilities, integration of AASM 1000kg weaponry and strengthening the device against cyber threats,” the government agency said.

The Rafale F4 standard will be put into service in two phases – in 2023 and 2025. Incremental development objective to enable it to remain at the best level in the face of changing national needs & export.

The French Air and Space Force received the first of the latest generation Rafale jets dubbed "Rafale 4.1 standard," on March 2.

The new standard includes upgrades to existing capabilities like the Thales AESA radar and Talios targeting pod along with the Rafale’s electronic warfare system and communications suite.

New capabilities for the F4 include the Thales Scorpion Helmet Mounted Display, MBDA’s MICA NG (Next-Generation) air-to-air missile and the 1,000 kilogram variant of Safran’s AASM (armement air-sol modulaire) “Hammer” precision-guided munition.
