The Polish Armament Agency has signed Letter of Acceptance (LOA) with the United States for Sniper advanced targeting pods to equip them on the South Korea-made FA-50 light attack aircraft.

The U.S. State Department approved the sale of Sniper ATPs for $124.7 million to Poland in May.

The pods will be delivered to Poland between 2024 and 2028.

Poland signed two contracts with Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) for 12 FA-50 Block 10 and 32 FA-50 Block 20 (FA-50PL) in August 2022. The first contract was valued at $705 million, while the second was valued at $2.3 billion.

Lockheed Martin makes Sniper ATPs.

Sniper pods provide improved long-range target detection/identification and continuous stabilized surveillance for all missions, including close air support of ground forces. The Sniper pod enables aircrews to detect and identify weapon caches and individuals carrying armaments, all outside jet noise ranges. Imagery, video datalink and J-series-weapons-quality coordinates provided by the Sniper pod enable rapid target decisions and keep aircrews out of threat ranges.
