China Unveils Tilt-Rotor Helicopter Model at China Helicopter Expo

China has revealed a full-size scale model of a tilt-rotor helicopter designated as ZN-1 at the Sixth China Helicopter Expo that concluded last week in Tianjin.

An accompanying placard about the models said, “the two-person tilt-rotor can be multi-purpose and economical by replacing the body module and power unit with minimal changes to the overall design.”

No details have been provided if and when this model will enter production and what is its intended use.

If this project fructifies it will be the smallest tilt-rotor helicopter in the world. A tilt-rotor helicopter’s main advantage is that it can take off and land vertically like a helicopter while attaining the speed of a turbo-prop aircraft.
