Northrop Grumman has won $543 million to produce MQ-4C Triton unmanned aircraft systems for U.S. and Australia.

The contract is focused on advancing the Low-Rate Initial Production Lot Six of the MQ-4C Triton Unmanned Aircraft System. The scope of the project includes the production and delivery of three unmanned aircraft (UA) for the United States Navy, one UA for the government of Australia, and the establishment of one main operating base for the Navy. Additionally, the contract encompasses associated support and related technical and administrative data, as per an official Pentagon release issued today.

The production and delivery schedule outlined in the contract modification is expected to span several years, with completion anticipated in January 2028.

The MQ-4C Triton is utilized in real-time maritime intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions. It measures 14.5 meters in length, 4.6 meters in height, and boasts a substantial 39.9-meter wingspan. Weighing 14,628 kilograms, this aircraft can operate continuously for over 24 hours, reaching altitudes of 50,000 feet, and attaining a maximum speed of 331 knots.
