Ukraine aims to assemble ISUZU D-Max pickups this year to support Ukraine's Defense Forces.
Oleksandr Dorosh, chairman of the Ataman enterprise's supervisory board was quoted as saying by Auto-Consulting. Ataman enterprise, based in Cherkasy, assembles Izuzu pick-ups in Ukraine.
Ataman buses, based on Japanese Isuzu chassis in Cherkassy, achieved high levels of localization (67% for buses, over 30% for trucks), contributing to a 20% production increase this year with government support.
With an eye on Defense Forces' needs, Cherkasy plans to deploy Isuzu D-Max pickups powered by a 1.9-liter turbodiesel generating 163 horsepower, the D-Max boasts adaptability, featuring high-profile tires and a 600mm deep ford capability. The four-wheel-drive system activates at speeds up to 100 kmph.
Ataman is explores special inserts for military pickups wheels to prevent damage from gunfire.
Izusu and Toyota pick-ups are popular around the world as economical, fast-moving military vehicles. Mounted with heavy machine guns and mortars, these pick-ups can be manoeuvered through narrow pathways and uneven roads.
