Baltic Workboats has recently signed a contract with the Estonian State Fleet for the design and construction of a new multipurpose vessel.

The vessel, set to be completed in 2026, will be powered by biomethane and electricity to ensure ecological sustainability.

The contract for the design and construction of the multipurpose vessel is valued at €22 million and is funded by NextGenerationEU, the European Union's recovery instrument, and the national state budget.

The workboat aims to enhance capabilities for various tasks in Estonian waters, including regular buoy tender works, waterway maintenance, scientific research, pollution monitoring, and search and rescue missions. With a length of approximately 40 meters, a width of about 10 meters, and a maximum speed of up to 12 knots, the vessel's exact parameters will be finalized during the detailed design process.

The new workboat is slated to be Estonia's first 100% alternatively fueled vessel, utilizing sustainable biomethane as its primary fuel source. The incorporation of a battery bank will enable the vessel to operate in 100% electric mode, contributing to reduced emissions.
