EDGE Group's subsidiary, Milrem Robotics, has secured a contract to supply 60 units of combat unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) to the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.) Ministry of Defence, marking the world's largest combat robotics program.

The announcement was made during the Unmanned Systems Exhibition & Conference (UMEX 2023) held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) until 24 January.

Under the agreement, Milrem Robotics will provide the U.A.E. Armed Forces with 20 tracked robotic combat vehicles (RCVs) and 40 THeMIS UGVs. The contract outlines the initiation of an experimentation and trial program to integrate unmanned ground capabilities into the U.A.E. Armed Forces' operations.

The tracked RCVs are equipped with 30mm MK44 cannons, while the THeMIS Combat units feature 30mm M230LF Remote Weapon Stations and Indirect Fire Systems. Additionally, THeMIS Observe units will be supplied with radar and camera systems, including shot detection capabilities.

The UGV units come with high-quality communication solutions and advanced autonomy features.

As part of the contract, Milrem Robotics will lead the training and supervision efforts to ensure that relevant personnel achieve a satisfactory skill level in operating combat unmanned ground systems. The program is set to undergo an operational trial before a larger order is placed upon its completion.
